Hello! Tiffany here, new mumma, Pilates professional, mindful mover and Good Movement Company creator and instructor.
I believe there is no greater form of self-love than moving your body. This looks different for everyone. Some people love running, dancing, swimming, cycling etc. For others, the idea of going for a run sounds about as exciting as a trip to the dentist. Then there are those whose days are soooo busy they struggle to find time to fit anything else in (I’m looking at you new mummas!).
It doesn’t matter whether your days are full of exercise or not, every body benefits from slowing down and taking a few minutes to stretch and mobilise.
Slowing down doesn’t have to be boring and it doesn’t need to take up too much time. Just a few short minutes out of your day will allow you to continue performing the activities you love and tasks you need to get done without ending up injured or in pain.
Realistically I fit in about 5-15 minutes of mindful movement per day. This helps to boost my mood (particularly if I don’t get much sleep) and stay agile (so I can pick up baby girl and put her down again 1000 times per day) while allowing my body to heal post birth.
During the first Covid lockdown in Australia I taught an online stretch class that quickly became the most popular class on a national schedule.
Mindful movement — connection to your body and connection to your breath — allows you to unwind and heal from the stresses of daily life.
